I work on a broad range of topics around evolutionary biology, especially hybridisation, speciation and biogeography, though I dabble in many other areas. Much of my work concerns rhododendrons, and  I have written about a broader range of topics in my book Rhododendron (Reaktion Books), including ethnobotany, cultural importance of the plants, and their history in cultivation.
